The Media Updater section of the Manage Machines activity let's one control the media updater and see, when the updater is not being run in distributed mode, the status of this updater on the name server. The Media Updater is responsible for handling periodic jobs carried out by Yioop. Examples of periodic jobs include updating its RSS (or Atom) search sources on an hourly basis, downloading podcasts to wiki pages, computing query and view analytics, convert videos that have been uploaded into mp4 and webm if ffmpeg is installed, and sending out notification emails.

The Configure Media Job link takes one to a page were one can control which media jobs are currently running. Beneath there is On/Off toggle for the media updater together with a color indicator (green on/red off) for whether the Media Updater is currently running. Finally, there is a Log file link whic can be used to see the log entries (most recent at top) of Media Updater process.
